Underworld Groundwater Models - Overview
The groundwater project sets out to simulate flow within porous media found beneath the earth's surface. The flow is modeled using the Darcy equation which is solved using the StGermain FEM framework. Applications include carbon sequestration and geothermal fluid simulations.

Simple Darcy Simulation
This is a simulation of simple Darcy Flow. Here we have outflow/inflow conditions at the left/right boundaries, with impermeable top and bottom boundaries. Towards the centre of the domain source and sink regions have been added.
Toy CSS Model
We define an effective reservoir geometry using variable permeability with the domain, while a source is introduced to model a pumping inflow.
Variable Hydraulic Conductivity
This model introduces variable hydraulic conductivity within the domain. A prescribed inflow is set at the right boundary, while the hydraulic head is defined at the left. The lower left corner of the domain is almost impermeable, forcing the fluid to flow around this region.
